Happy Thanksgiving, Tomorrow

I've long lamented the fact that Green Bay doesn't have a local Spanish language radio station, but apparently I was wrong. For the Spanish language speakers out there, I’ve found a local (Appleton/ Green Bay) Spanish language radio station, WISR 105.7 SCA. Notice that I didn’t say 105.7 FM, WAPL. "SCA" means sub carrier or a sub-frequency and requires a special radio that costs about $35, available at some of the Hispanic businesses.

In the meantime, I can listen on the Internet (I’m listening right now.) and hear local advertisers. I’ll admit I do have trouble listening at the speed that some of the DJs talk! LOL!

Along the same lines, my son brought home from work a Hispanic “revista” or magazine called Consumidor Hispano. It’s primarily advertisements, but I can learn as much reading ads as I can reading text books! I’ll have to subscribe!

And there are a few restaurants in the revista that I’d like to visit!

While listening to the online radio, they run ads from advertisers in the Consumidor Hispano. It’s interesting to try and read the ad while listening to the online version!

BTW, Amy, Luis from Latinos Unidos has an ad in the CH along with una photographia!

Replying to a comment tonight about my use of my leaf blower brought to mind my activities of yesterday. I got bugged by all the leaves on the roof so I climbed up, blew off the roof, and then blew out the gutters. So I got that out of my system!

As I’ve mentioned before, my best friend and hunting buddy was like my big brother to me, my “blood brother” in everything but fact. We never had to mix our blood to cement our kinship. So I guess that makes his kids just like my nieces and nephew.

So, my “blood niece’s” husband ended up in the hospital due to a blood clot in his lungs while out hunting. After a stop in a hospital farther Nort', he finally ended up in the hospital two blocks away from me so I sucked it up and walked the two blocks (!) to the hospital to visit him and to his family the last couple of days. It was good to see every one!!

He’s doing well, looking forward to getting out of the hospital and back out into the woods. If things work out well for him, we’re planning on running up Nort’ on Friday to visit my “blood nephew.” We don’t plan on doing any hunting, but we might “pop a cap” on a weapon or two, just to see if they still go bang!

So that is part of the reason I haven’t been on here as much as I could have.

Part of the reason I brought up the previous comment was that while in the hospital the name “Aleah” came up. Ever notice how you may not hear a name for years and then all of a sudden you keep hearing a name all over the place?

Which brings to mind the comment Nettie made about her great-niece, Aleah, and the possibility of having her placed in her home. Anyone hear anything about that???

My inbox has filled up the past couple of days. There are about 10 emails that I still need to respond to so if you’re expecting a reply, it might take me a bit. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving so I’ll be away from the computer most of the day. Friday I just may be gone all day. So please forgive me if I’m a little slow.

Well, it’s almost 9:00 so I’d better wrap this up. I have to get up early to do some baking for tomorrow. I may even hit a store early tomorrow. But no way am I going shopping on Black Friday!
