H.A.D. - A Short Story

OK, I didn’t get up Nort’ today, I’ve been puttering around the house.

Things went well at Kris and Ken’s yesterday. The food was good—it still is, we brought home a bunch—and so was the conversation. As they say, “A good time was had by all.”

This despite the fact that I ended up with only 5-1/2 hours of sleep. Went to bed about 10:00, woke up about 2:00, and spent four hours trying to get back to sleep. Finally, at 6:00 I fell asleep for almost an hour and a half.

So last night, I thought I’d try a sleeping pill so I took one Nyquil gel cap. I know, I know, today I realized that it wasn’t a sleeping pill, but a cold medicine, but last night I thought it was. Shows how tired I really was. It actually seemed to work, but Ben mentioned that it can make one drowsy.

Therefore, I stopped by the store today and picked up some Sominex 25mg tablets. I get the low dose so I can take just one tablet. Usually they make me drowsy the next day if I take a full dose. We’ll see if they're any better than Nyquil.

The reason I didn’t get up Nort’ is that the person we were going to see came back for Thanksgiving and decided to go shopping with his new wife today. I know what Rawley would say about that, “He’s losing his ‘woodsy ways,’ already!” I guess it’s up to me to start hunting again just to keep the young bucks in line! :-D

As you might guess, I spend a lot of time on the Internet doing research educating myself. I don't read newspapers or watch TV but I do read a variety of sites, not all of them will I agree with. But the viewpoints give me something to think about. More on that at a later date.

One of my favorite sites is by Sunni Maravillosa. She posted a link on Wednesday that I thought may be a portent of things to come considering my viewpoint.

Can anyone say “dystopian?”
